The Candlelight Editorial
Submit
The Candlelight Editorial accepts any and all literary pieces from ages 13-20, free of charge. To submit, email a DOC or DOCX file to candlelighteditorial@gmail.com. Please write the title of the piece, your name, and the category for submission in the subject, and include a short biographical statement in the email. All entries should be in MLA format. We look forward to reviewing your submissions! While there is no required prompt/theme for this issue, pieces with a winter/holiday theme will be considered more likely!

Note: Spring submissions will be accepted until February 29th.
Categories
Short Fiction
This is a full story in a shorter format. Submissions should be no longer than `7 pages and no shorter than 3 pages double spaced.
Poetry
Please label the type of poem you are submitting. Free verse and specific types of poems are both accepted. Three poems counts as one entry! Submissions should be no more than 5 pages double spaced.
Script Excerpt
This is a portion of a larger play or screenplay. Please submit a short one page synopsis of the roles. Submissions should be no longer than 10 pages double spaced.
Novel Excerpt
This is a small portion from a large piece. Submit one chapter or less from your novel (preferably finished). Subissions should be no longer than 25 pages double spaced.
Non-Fiction
This is an informational piece that teaches the reader. Submissions should be no longer than 7 pages long double spaced.
Critical Essay
This is an essay created with the purpose of reviewing/critiquing a certain topic. Submissions should be no longer than 10 pages long, double spaced. All works must be cited in MLA format.
Visual Art
All kinds of visual art are welcome! Digital, physical, sculpture, 3D models, and photography are all accepted. Please submit a .jpg. Depending on size, files might be compressed. If we are looking to compress your file, we will send you an email in advance!
